A complaint has just been served at my home. What do I do?
First, stay calm and do not make any statement without advice. Gather every document you have and contact us straight away: the first steps shape much of the proceedings.
I have been arrested. What are my rights?
You have the right to be told why you are being detained, to remain silent, to contact a relative and to have a lawyer from the very first moment. No statement should be made without your defence present.
Is my information confidential?
Yes. Everything you tell us is protected by professional privilege, even if you ultimately decide not to instruct us.
If I am the victim of a crime, do I need a lawyer even though a prosecutor is handling it?
The prosecutor represents the State, not you personally. A lawyer for the injured party keeps the case moving, offers evidence and stops it being shelved through inactivity.
I was dismissed without a reason. Can I ask to be reinstated?
It depends on the type of dismissal and the employment regime. We review your contract, your length of service and the reason given before recommending reinstatement or compensation.
How long does a divorce take?
Where there is agreement and no children under 18, the notarial or municipal route can be resolved in a few months. Contested divorce goes through the courts and takes considerably longer: we give you a realistic estimate at the consultation.
How is child maintenance calculated?
The judge weighs the child's needs against the paying parent's means. There is no automatic percentage: income and outgoings have to be evidenced with documents.
